HC Deb 14 March 1912 vol 35 cc1406-7W
Lord CHARLES BERESFORD

asked the First Lord of the Admiralty whether he is aware that when the petty officer second-class rate was abolished in the Navy, the Admiralty stated that persons who were petty officers second class before the regulation came into force would hold that rate until they were promoted, so that the old rate would gradually die out; whether he is aware that petty officers second class taking on for their second period are not allowed to do so unless they revert to leading seamen; and whether he will look into the matter, and see that such persons are in future not disrated when taking on to complete time for pension?

Dr. MACNAMARA

Inquiry is being made into the questions raised by the Noble Lord.
