§ Colonel CHALONERasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will issue a Return showing the total payments paid to insurers, the amounts placed to reserve fund, and the amounts paid in salaries and other expenses incurred in working the industrial branches of the following societies: the Prudential, Hearts of Oak, Oddfellows, Foresters, and the Royal Liver, for the years 1909, 1910, and 1911?
§ Mr. LLOYD GEORGEI am informed by the Chief Registrar of Friendly Societies that he has no information with regard to the Prudential Assurance Company. The Hearts of Oak, Oddfellows and Foresters are registered under the Friendly Societies Act, but none of their operations can be described as constituting an industrial branch. The Royal Liver, which is a collecting society under the Friendly Societies Act, does some business which approximates to that of an industrial insurance company, but the accounts supplied to the Chief Registrar of Friendly Societies do not enable him to differentiate between this and other business transacted by the society in order to supply the particulars referred to in the question of the hon. Member.
