§ Mr. TENNANTOwing to differences in manufacturing methods, there has been some difficulty in comparing the various rates of payment, but after a careful review of all the conditions, it is considered that 7d. an hour, mentioned by the hon. Member as the recognied rate, may fairly be taken as the minimum for adult machinists in the trade in the district, and the firm in question has been asked to give an assurance that not less than this rate shall in future be paid to such workpeople.
