HC Deb 13 June 1912 vol 39 c1199W
Sir J. D. REES

asked why, when the province of Bengal is being placed in all other respects on an equal footing with the Presidencies of Madras and Bombay, the High Court of Calcutta is to continue to be in official relations with the Governor-General in Council and not with the Governor of Bengal in Council?

Mr. MONTAGU

The reason is that the jurisdiction of the Calcutta High Court extends beyond the territories comprised in the Presidency of Fort William in Bengal.
