HC Deb 12 June 1912 vol 39 cc1016-8W
Mr. HOGGE

asked the Secretary for Scotland whether he can state the total number of applications for land received by the Land Court in Scotland; the number of applications from each county separately; and the total area of land applied for?

Mr. McKINNON WOOD

Applications of the character referred to are made to the Board of Agriculture for Scotland and not to the Land Court. The Board of Agriculture for Scotland received 4,296 preliminary inquiries as to new holdings and 1,237 preliminary inquiries for the enlargement of existing holdings. In response to these the Board issued forms to be filled in by inquirers, and up to the present 1,947 applicants for new holdings, and 585 applicants for the enlargement of existing holdings, have returned the forms with the required particulars. I am not prepared to ask the Board, which is much pressed with other work, to tabulate further statistics at present.
