HC Deb 10 June 1912 vol 39 cc664-5W
Mr. FELL

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs if the disturbances in the island of Cyprus have now ceased; and if he can state what was the cause of such disturbances, and if the cause has been removed or effectively dealt with?

Mr. HARCOURT

There has been no renewal of the disturbances which unfortunately occurred in Cyprus on the 26th and 27th of May. I have not yet received detailed reports on the outbreaks, but I gather that they were due to animosities between certain sections of the Greek and Turkish population.
