§ Mr. WEDGWOODasked the Prime Minister whether his attention has been called to a speech made by the Secretary of State for War at Northampton foreshadowing the reform of the Poor Law; whether the Secretary of State in this voiced the opinions of the Cabinet; and whether the proposed Poor Law reform will involve more State interference with poor people or less?
§ The PRIME MINISTERI have seen a brief report of the speech. I gather that my right hon. Friend was expressing in general terms, with which I see no reason to differ, his views on the desirability of further social reforms to follow old age pensions and other boons conferred by this Government. He made no specific proposals.
