§ Mr. BIRRELLAn extra force of police was drafted into Westport recently owing to disorder in the district, and not at the request of any person. The question of the area upon which the expense of the extra force should be charged will be considered by Government. The responsible police authorities are not prepared to recommend the withdrawal of the extra force at present.
