HC Deb 11 December 1912 vol 45 c473W
Mr. GOLDSTONE

asked the Home Secretary what was the average number of workmen employed in each of the shipbuilding yards on the River Wear where accidents occurred during last year; and what were the numbers of fatal, serious, and minor accidents, respectively, which occurred in each of these yards?

Mr. McKENNA

The Home Office is not in possession of the information as to the average number of persons employed, and has no power under the Factory Act to ask for it apart from the periodical general return under Section 130. I will communicate, however, with the occupiers, and see if I can obtain the information, and when I have heard from them I will communicate with my hon. Friend.
