HC Deb 02 April 1912 vol 36 c1143W
Mr. LUNDON

asked why extra police have been drafted into Elton district, county Limerick; how many have been stationed there heretofore, and what is the reason for the increase; and, in view of the peaceful state of the district, will they be withdrawn so as not to increase the rates in the district?

Mr. BIRRELL

The police authorities inform me that the number of men available for duty in the Elton district is not in excess of the fixed quota. The requirements of the district cannot be carried out with a smaller force. The present strength of the force does not entail any charge on the rates.
