HC Deb 26 October 1911 vol 30 cc420-1W
Mr. MILDMAY

asked the First Lord of the Admiralty whether an answer may be shortly given to the claim advanced by the Devon Sea Fishery Committee on behalf of the crab-pot fishermen of the River Yealm, South Devon, to damages in consequence of destruction of fishing gear earlier in the year?

Dr. MACNAMARA

A copy of the letter addressed to the hon. Member on this subject in August last was forwarded to the Devon Sea Fisheries Committee. The Committee has written to the Admiralty again recently, and will receive an answer very shortly; but in the absence of any evidence that the damage was caused by His Majesty's ships I can hold out no hope that the claim will be admitted.
