Captain CRAIGasked the Secretary to the Treasury whether the Lords Commissioners of His Majesty's Treasury have yet come to a decision with regard to the question of reckoning, for superannuation purposes, the Army service of ex-Royal Engineers actually rendered to the Post Office; and, if not, whether he can state when a decision upon the subject is likely to be reached?
§ Mr. HOBHOUSEIn the present state of the law, service with the colours cannot be counted as civil service for the purpose of civil superannuation allowance; and I am unable to recommend an amendment of the law in this respect.
