HC Deb 14 March 1911 vol 22 cc2199-200W
Mr. CLOUGH

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether he can state the number of chambers, the number of members of each chamber, the duration, and whether that duration is fixed, in the case of each Parliament in His Majesty's self-governing Colonies?

Mr. HARCOURT

The information desired by the hon. Gentleman so far as it is available will be circulated shortly with the Votes and Proceedings.

Mr. CLOUGH

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether the Crown, through its representative, possesses the prerogative, when deemed advisable, to dissolve the Parliament of any self-governing colony before the expiration of its-statutory duration; and whether he will name those Colonial Parliaments concerning which the Crown possesses this prerogative?

Mr. HARCOURT

There is no statutory minimum for the duration of any Parliament in a British Dominion.
