HC Deb 14 March 1911 vol 22 cc2197-8W
Mr. SANDYS

asked the Secretary of State for War if he is aware of the deadlock in promotion in the Royal Garrison Artillery; and if he proposes to take any step to remedy the hardship to the officers in that regiment?

Mr. HALDANE

As I have already informed the House, promotion in the Garrison Artillery has recommenced. Five sub alterns were promoted in November and December, nine more were promoted in January, and five more will be gazetted this next Friday. Provision has been made in Estimates for an additional major and captain, and from this and from other vacancies about ten promotions are in prospect before the end of April.
