§ Mr. LUNDONasked if the Estates Commissioners have received during the past week a second memorial from the uneconomic holders in Ballylusky and Ballygryfen, Croom, county Limerick, asking them to purchase eighty acres of land which is being offered for sale by T. and W. Browning, of Carass Court, Croom, with a view of having their holdings enlarged; and, if so, what action will be taken in the matter?
§ Mr. BIRRELLThe Estates Commismissioners received two memorials on this subject. In reply to the first memorial they stated that their power to purchase was limited to the purchase of lands in fee simple, and that they could not take steps to acquire a tenant's interest, and that it was not possible for them, having regard to the statutory authority under which they act, to be represented at public auctions. On 24th February they received a second memorial on the same subject, but the Commissioners, as stated above, have no power to comply with the request of the memorialists.
