§ Mr. CLANCYasked the Chief Secretary if he will state the total amount applied for by local authorities in Ireland under the Housing (Ireland) Act, 1908, up to the 31st March, 1911, and the total amount sanctioned up to that date?
§ Mr. BIRRELLLoans for housing purposes are sanctioned not under the Housing of the Working Classes (Ireland) Act, 1908, but under the Housing of the Working Classes Act, 1890. Since the date of the pasing of the Act of 1908 applications have been received by the Local Government Board for loans amounting to £374,187, inclusive of cases involving an amount of £115,790, in respect of which provisional orders will require to be made 1431W before borrowing can be sanctioned. The amount sanctioned since the date indicated is £224,081.
