Mr. MacCAW

asked the Chief Secretary for Ireland if he will state who is the local authority empowered to put in force the provisions of the Education Act of 1892 in the town of Gilford, county Down; and whether it is part of the duty of the rural school attendance officer of the district to look after the attendance of the children within the boundary of the town of Gilford.

Mr. BIRRELL

The Gilford Town Commissioners are the authority. The reply to the second paragraph of the question is in the negative.
