HC Deb 20 February 1911 vol 21 c1706W
Mr. CARLILE

asked the hon. Member for Southampton, as representing the First Commissioner of Works, whether he will consider the advisability of granting one weekly rest-day to the park-keepers?

Mr. DUDLEY WARD

At present the park-keepers are granted annually the following leave with pay:—

Nine days ordinary leave 9
One Sunday in four 13
One day off in twenty-eight working days 13
Six public holidays 6
41

The granting of the suggested privilege would involve a cost of about £825, and, in the circumstances, a permanent addition of this sum to the Vote for Royal Parks would not, in the opinion of the First Commissioner, be justified.
