HC Deb 16 February 1911 vol 21 cc1406-7W
Mr. LARDNER

asked the Chief Secretary if he will state the number of sub-commissioners, lay and legal, whether permanently or temporarily appointed, at present in the service of the Irish Land Commission; and will he give the names and services of those gentlemen, and state the names of those whom it is proposed should deal with applications to have fair rents fixed for a third statutory term?

Mr. BIRRELL

The number of legal and lay assistant-commissioners at present attached to the Land Commission is as follows: four legal, of whom three are temporary, and thirty-one lay, of whom three are temporary. Particulars as to their services, with the exception of one (Mr. R. J. Kelly, B.L., who was appointed a temporary legal assistant-commissioner on 5th September, 1908), will be found in House of Commons Papers, Nos. 231 and 237, of the year 1906. The assistant-commissioners now dealing with applications to fix fair rents deal with all such cases, whether the applications are for a first, second, or third statutory term. I will forward the hon. Member a nominal list of the gentlemen appointed, showing whether they are permanent or temporary, and on what work they are now employed.
