asked the Lord Advocate if he will enter into communication with the Scottish University Commissioners, with a view to the preparation of a Return of all bursaries and scholarships which may be held by entrant students while attending any of the Scottish Universities or any of the colleges forming part of the Scottish Universities, distinguishing betwixt those which are open only to entrant students and those which may be awarded either to an entrant student or to a student who is in the second, third, or fourth year of his University curriculum; and showing in the case of each such bursary or scholarship the name or names of the patron or patrons; the preferences or conditions, if any, by which the class of students eligible to hold the bursary or scholarship is limited; the total capital value of the funds mortified, accrued, or otherwise devoted to the endowment of the bursary or scholarship for each of the three academical years ended 30th September, 1909, 1910, and 1911; the annual amount which the bursary or scholarship has yielded to the bursar or scholar for each of the three years above mentioned; and the period of tenure of the bursary or scholarship?

As desired by my right hon. Friend, I will communicate with the Scottish University Commissioners on the subject.
