HC Deb 26 April 1911 vol 24 c1925W

asked the Secretary to the Treasury whether in the Paddington district certain private residents who had sent cheques in payment of Income Tax had the cheques returned with a request that payment might be withheld; and, if so at whose instigation, and under what authority, did the Income Tax collector so act?

I have no knowledge of such a thing having taken place. If the hon. Member will furnish me with particulars of a specific case I will cause inquiry to be made.
