HC Deb 07 April 1911 vol 23 c2670W
Mr. NANNETTI

asked the Postmaster-General if, among other reductions in Ireland of superior officers and transferring of the duties performed by them to London, one of the two Post Office engineering districts is to be reduced to one composed of Royal Engineers; whether Mr. Masaroon, one of the assistant superintending engineers, has been transferred from Dublin to Liverpool; and whether his place is to be filled by another man in Dublin?

Mr. HERBERT SAMUEL

It is not proposed to transfer to London duties now performed by superior officers in Ireland, nor is it proposed that either of the two Post Office engineering districts in Ireland should be reduced to one composed of Royal Engineers. Mr. Masaroon, who recently requested a transfer to England, has been moved from Dublin to Liverpool. In view of the fact that in relation to the volume of engineering work the supervising force in Ireland was disproportionate to that in other parts of the United Kingdom it is not proposed to fill Mr. Masaroon's place in Dublin.
