§ Mr. SUTTONasked the President of the Local Government Board whether he is aware that the American Government prohibits the bleaching or adulteration of flour for consumption in the United States as being contrary to the laws relating to the sale of food and drugs, but at the same time allows American millers to bleach or adulterate flour for export to this country; and will he state what steps, if any, are being taken to prevent adulterated flour, which is declared to be injurious to the 2585W health of the citizens of the United States, being landed in this country?
§ Mr. BURNSI am aware of the provisions of the American law on this matter. A report by one of my inspectors has been presented to Parliament and will be printed immediately. The question what action, if any, is needed for the protection of consumers will receive my consideration.
