§ Mr. FIELDasked the Secretary to the Treasury whether the case of H. C. Stevens, employed as an assistant clerk in the Studd Street department of the General Post Office, was referred to the Treasury before this clerk was dismissed, on 4th November, 1910, upon a report after trial by a superior officer; and whether, considering that this clerk possesses a sound general education, and that, by one of the regulations respecting the assignation of clerks, the Civil Service Commissioners recognise that different departments require different qualifications and that clerks should be appointed accordingly, the Treasury will inquire into the dismissal and qualifications of the clerk with a view to his reappointment in another department of the State?
§ Mr. HOBHOUSEThe reply to both questions is in the negative.
