HC Deb 21 May 1910 vol 116 cc413-4W
Sir E. GOULDING

asked the Post master-General whether, in provincial towns, the eight hours which postmen are supposed to work necessitates their commencing work at six o'clock in the morning, putting in a second spell at mid-day, and finishing off with a third spell at ten o'clock in the evening?

Mr. PEASE

The arrangement of postmen's attendances necessarily varies according to the requirements of each case. I have no knowledge of any attendances arranged as indicated in the question and shall be glad if the right hon. Baronet will supply particulars of any such case that has been brought to his notice. It is my wish to improve attendances as far as circumstances permit, particularly in large towns.
