asked the President of the Board of Education whether a boy who attains the age of fourteen five days after the commencement of a school term, and who is put into employment by his parents previous to the commencement of such term, can be compelled by the local education authorities to relinquish the employment and return to school for the remainder of the term, and, if so, under what Clause of the Act?

Under Section 9 of the Education Act, 1918, which came into operation on the 1st February, 1919, a child attending a public elementary school who attains any year of age. during the school term shall not for the purpose of any enactment or by law relating to school attendance, be deemed to have attained that year of age until the end of the term.
