HC Deb 21 March 1910 vol 15 cc921-2W
Mr. HARWOOD

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether any alteration has been made during the last twelve months in the system of irrigation in Egypt; and whether native officials have been substituted for Europeans in superintending any portion of that process?

Sir E. GREY:

I am not aware that there has been any alteration in the general system of irrigation in Egypt. The progress made during the past twelve months will be described in Sir Eldon Gorst's Annual Report on Egypt, which is now being prepared for presentation. I will inquire whether native officials have been substituted for Europeans in any works connected with irrigation.
