§ Mr. DEVLINasked the President of the Board of Trade whether his attention has been called to a resolution of the Belfast Associated French Polishers demanding that the furniture and fitments of the new Labour Exchanges in Ireland should be manufactured, if possible, in Ireland, under fair wages and conditions; and whether he will take steps to see that this demand is acceded to.
§ Mr. HOBHOUSEThe answer to the first part of the question is in the nega- 1435W tive. I am, however, informed by the Board of Works, Ireland, that practically the whole of the furniture and fitments for the new Labour Exchanges in Ireland have been made in Ireland, and the whole of it subject to the terms of the Fair Wages Resolution of the House of Commons.
