Major WHITEasked the President of the Local Government Board if his attention has been drawn to the hardship experienced by persons in receipt of outdoor relief, more especially when aged or infirm, in having to go out during inclement weather to meet the relieving officer at a fixed time; and whether, in the case of infirmity, the money due could be delivered to such persons at their own homes?
§ Mr. BURNSI am aware of the point to which the hon. Member refers, and in a circular which I recently addressed to boards of guardians I encouraged the abolition of pay stations. If the hon. Member has any particular case of hardship in mind and will communicate with me I will look into it.
