Mr. CHANCELLORasked the Postmaster-General whether, in view of the slowness of promotion on the Supplementary Establishment of the Secretary's Office, the claims of that establishment to promotion to higher administrative posts, and the satisfaction given by similar promotions in the past, he will promote a supplementary clerk to the vacancy caused in the higher division by the death of Mr. Oakshott, the assistant secretary?
§ Mr. HERBERT SAMUELThe desire of the Supplementary Establishment of the Secretary's Office to receive promotion to the higher administrative posts, usually reserved for the officers who pass into the Post Office by the open competition for the higher grade of the Civil Service, will not be overlooked in connection with the promotions which will result from the death which has just occurred of this able and zealous officer.
