§ Mr. BRIDGEMANasked the President of the Board of Education if he could now state whether building operations began upon the enlargement of Towyn council school before the expiration of the period 2751W for objection to the notice; and if he will, in deference to the number of objectors, hold a local inquiry into the case?
§ Mr. RUNCIMANThe statutory period of notice expired on 21st July and revised plans of the proposed improvements were sent up to the Board of Education by the Local Education Authority on the 23rd of that month. From this my right hon. Friend assumes that building operations had not commenced at that date. With regard to the second part of the question, the Board of Education are in full possession of all the material facts and have already given their decision that the proposed enlargement is necessary within the meaning of Sections 8 and 9 of the Education Act, 1902.
