§ Mr. RUNCIMANThe amount received from the rates in 1907–8 (the latest year for which figures are available) for Education other than Elementary, was as follows:—
England Wales £1,467,283 Wales 130,660 £1,597,940 The Board have not the information necessary to enable them to say to what extent the amounts received from rates are distributed between secondary and other forms of education other than elementary, e.g., technical instruction. With reference to the concluding paragraph of the question, I must refer the hon. Member to the answer I gave him on 1st March, from which he will see that I am not in a position to make any calculations based on the average attendance of pupils except in respect of public elementary schools.
