Deb 19 June 1934 vol 93 c37

Report from the Special Orders Committee, That they have examined the Amendment as required by the Standing Orders of the House; that in their opinion the Amendment raises questions of policy and principle which have been accepted already by the House when passing the Agricultural Marketing Acts, 1031 and 1933, under which the Amendment is submittted for approval; that the Amendment is not founded on precedent, inasmuch as no proposal for the amendment of a Scheme has hitherto been submitted to the House; that in the opinion of the Committee the Amendment can be passed by the House without special attention, subject to any arguments on the merits which may arise in debate, and that no further inquiry is necessary before the House proceeds to a decision on the Resolution approving the said Amendment: Read, and ordered to lie on the Table.
