Deb 01 August 1924 vol 59 c202
THE EARL OF CLANWILLIAM:

My Lords, I understand, from a private conversation that I have had with the noble Lord, the Lord President of the Council, that he will do his best to give us during to-day's proceedings an account of the negotiations which are in progress at the moment as regards the Boundary Commission concerned with the boundary between the North and South of Ireland.

THE LORD PRESIDENT OF THE COUNCIL (LORD PARMOOR):

My Lord, I think the noble Lord has slightly misunderstood or exaggerated what I said. I said that I would endeavour to obtain an account of what the Prime Minister said in another place and, if the House desired it, this should be communicated. I did not go beyond that.

THE EARL OF CLANWILLIAM:

I certainly did not wish to misrepresent the noble Lord. If he will give us the information which he has said that he will give us and which has been given already in another place, I shall be satisfied

LORD PARMOOR:

If I can obtain it I will do so.

LORD BANBURY OF SOUTHAM:

Does not the noble Lord know what the Prime Minister has agreed to do? If so, why not tell us?

LORD PARMOOR:

I certainly should not make any statement here unless I had the same words as the Prime Minister himself used. It is far too serious a matter.

THE EARL OF CLANWILLIAM:

May I say that this is all that I ask?

LORD PARMOOR:

Quite so.
