HL Deb 28 October 2004 vol 665 c1404
The Lord President of the Council (Baroness Amos)

My Lords, I beg to move the Motion standing in my name on the Order Paper. The debate to which this Motion relates began its life as an Unstarred Question for the lunch break. It attracted so many speakers that Back-Benchers would have been restricted to just two minutes each. As it happened, the usual channels realised yesterday that the Hunting Bill might finish early. They therefore agreed, as a complete one-off, to turn the Question into a Motion to be taken after the Bill with a two and a half hour time limit. If agreed to, this will give Back-Benchers eight minutes each. I hope the House will feel that, for once, the usual channels have got it right.

Moved, That the debate on the Motion in the name of the Baroness Gale set down for today shall be limited to two and a half hours.—(Baroness Amos.)

On Question, Motion agreed to.
