HL Deb 16 March 2004 vol 659 c163
Lord Grocott

My Lords, before we move to the next business, it may be helpful if I say that with the agreement of the usual channels proceedings on the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Bill will begin no less than half an hour from now, at twenty past five. If necessary, once the Northern Ireland order has been considered, I shall move that the House do adjourn during pleasure for a short time.

The reason is simple. We have no way of knowing quite how long the Northern Ireland order will take. It is sensible to have a half hour turn round when essentially the same group of noble Lords are debating the European Parliamentary and Local Elections (Pilots) Bill and the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Bill. I am sure it makes sense.
