HL Deb 08 January 2004 vol 657 c257

11.35 a.m.

Lord Grocott

My Lords, I have two brief pieces of information. The first is to remind the House that today is the first time that we shall implement our new arrangements for Thursdays. There are two Second Readings today and the target time for the completion of business is 7 p.m. I simply advise everyone that Back-Bench speeches on those two Second Readings would need to last for around seven minutes in order to meet our target rising time.

The second announcement is that, with the agreement of the House, at a suitable moment after 3 p.m. a Statement will be repeated by my noble friend Lady Ashton on student support in higher education.
