§ Baroness CrawleyMy Lords, on behalf of my noble friend Lady Symons of Vernham Dean, I beg to move the Motion standing in her name on the Order Paper.
§ Moved, That the order of commitment of 25th November last be discharged, and that the Bill be committed to a Committee of the Whole House. —(Baroness Crawley.)
§ Lord Cope of BerkeleyMy Lords, I wish to make it clear that we thought it right for this Bill originally to go to a Grand Committee. But timing problems for the Government have made that difficult and we acquiesce with this Motion on this occasion.
§ Lord Stoddart of SwindonMy Lords, is the noble Baroness aware that a number of people believe that this is the kind of Bill that should not go to a Grand Committee but should be taken on the Floor of the House? We therefore welcome this Motion.
§ Baroness CrawleyMy Lords, I understand that this procedure has been agreed through the usual channels.
§ On Question, Motion agreed to.
