The Clerk of the ParliamentsMy Lords, with the leave of the House, I will now announce the results of the election of 15 hereditary Peers ready to serve as Deputy Speakers or other office holders, in accordance with the provisions of the House of Lords Bill and Standing Order 9.
Six hundred and thirty-one Peers completed valid ballot papers. A paper setting out the complete results will be available in the Printed Paper Office and the Library when I sit down. That paper gives the names of the successful candidates and the unsuccessful candidates, with the number of votes cast for each.
At the election held on 27th and 28th October the following candidates have been elected:
The tie between Lord Strabolgi and Lord Elton was resolved by taking into account voters' preferences, which puts Lord Strabolgi ahead of Lord Elton on that basis.
