HL Deb 12 June 1997 vol 580 c987
The Chairman of Committees

My Lords, I beg to move the third Motion standing in my name on the Order Paper. In doing so perhaps I may say that your Lordships might be relieved and I hope comforted to know that this afternoon completes the series of sessional Motions which I find it my duty to impose upon your Lordships from time to time. I hope that noble Lords' smiles are not over-optimistically enthusiastic, because I cannot promise not to bring other Motions before your Lordships during the Session.

Perhaps I may take this opportunity to thank the usual channels and the Convenor of the Cross-Bench Peers for the considerable amount of effort they put into the preparation of the names and other matters placed before your Lordships. The usual channels and the Convenor are sometimes not thanked sufficiently. I should like to take the opportunity to do so.

Moved, on behalf of the Committee of Selection, That the Baroness Platt of Writtle be appointed a member of the Select Committee.—(The Chairman of Committees.)

On Question, Motion agreed to.
