HL Deb 25 March 1993 vol 544 c436

2 Clause 14, Page 12, line 15, leave out from 'with' to `for' in line 16 and insert:

  1. `(i) such requirements as are specified in the order; and
  2. (ii) such requirements as that officer may reasonably specify,'.

Lord Fraser of Carmyllie

My Lords, I beg to move that the House do agree with the Commons in their Amendment No. 2.

Where an offender is subject to a supervised release order he or she will have to comply with such requirements as are specified in the order or by the supervising officer. I am sure that supervising officers—who are professional social workers—will specify only such requirements as are necessary and appropriate. The amendment nevertheless makes it quite clear that our intention is that all requirements specified by supervising officers must be reasonable.

Moved, That the House do agree with the Commons in their Amendment No. 2.—(Lord Fraser of Carmyllie.)

On Question, Motion agreed to.
