§ The Lord Chancellor (Lord Mackay of Clashfern)My Lords, I beg to move that this Bill be now read a third time. This is the first of three consolidation Bills in my name on the Order Paper. If I may, shall speak also to the Radioactive Substances Bill [H.L.] and the Charities Bill [H.L.].
The Bills, covering as they do a diversity of subject matter have a common factor in that they all represent the efforts of Parliamentary Counsel, of Law Commissioners and of the members of the Joint Committee that considers the details of consolidation Bills. I am sure that I have the support of the House in expressing appreciation to all of them for the valuable and painstaking work that they put into tidying the statute book and keeping it up to date.
Moved, That the Bill be now read a third time.—(The Lord Chancellor.) On Question, Motion agreed to: Bill passed and sent to the Commons.
