HL Deb 28 April 1993 vol 545 c349

3.8 p.m.

Lord Hesketh

My Lords, in the anticipation that your Lordships will agree to the Motion which is about to be moved by my noble friend the Leader of the House, I should like to say a word about this afternoon's debates standing in the names of the noble Lords, Lord Hunter of Newington and Lord Greenway. As the mover is allowed 15 minutes, and the Minister should rise to reply not less than 20 minutes before the scheduled end of the debate, in the case of the debate in the name of the noble Lord, Lord Hunter of Newington, this means that all other speeches should be limited to a maximum of 11 minutes and in that of the noble Lord, Lord Greenway, 12 minutes. If any noble Lord were to speak at greater length, he would be doing so to the misadventure of subsequent speakers in that debate.
