2AB Line 14 at end insert: ("(2A) A court shall make an order under subsection (1) above whenever it passes a sentence of imprisonment for life.").

Lord Nathan My Lords, I beg to move Amendment 2AB, as an amendment to Commons Amendment No. 2A. This amendment, as we have discussed, requires that the court shall make an order under subsection (1) of the Commons amendment, as amended by the amendment which your Lordships have just approved. This means that the court will not have the option whether it shall do so or not. I beg to move.
