§ 126 Clause 24, page 35, line 36, after 'means', insert ', in relation to England and Wales and Northern Ireland'.
§ 127 Clause 25, page 35, line 37, leave out 'in relation to England and Wales and Northern Ireland'.
§ Lord Fraser of CarmyllieMy Lords, I beg to move that the House do agree with the Commons in their Amendments Nos. 126 and 127. They seek to clarify the definition of "practitioners" in Clause 24(6)(b) of the Bill. The intention is for "practitioners" in relation to England, Wales and Northern Ireland to include those who have rights of audience or rights to conduct litigation even if they are not solicitors or barristers provided that they are covered by regulations made by the Secretary of State. Before amendment the clause did not fully cover that policy aspect. Indeed, the matter caused some confusion when it last came before the House.
Moved. That the House do agree with the Commons in their Amendments Nos. 126 and 127. —(Lord Fraser of Carmyllie.)
§ On Question, Motion agreed to.
