HL Deb 12 November 1990 vol 523 c120
The Chairman of Committees (Lord Aberdare)

My Lords, I beg to move the Motion standing in my name on the Order Paper.

These are four Commons Bills which reached this House in the last Session. Your Lordships may recall that a Motion of mine was agreed to carry them over at the end of the last Session. Unfortunately another place did not agree. The Motion today seeks to revive the four Bills in this Session. If it is accepted, it will give another place a chance to reconsider the position. I beg to move.

Moved, That the promoters of the Bills, which were brought from the Commons in the last Session of Parliament but had not received the Royal Assent, shall notwithstanding anything in the Standing Orders or practice of this House have leave to proceed with the Bills in the present Session, and the petitions for the Bills shall be deemed to have been deposited and all Standing Orders applicable thereto shall be deemed to have been complied with;

That, if the Bills are brought from the Commons in the present Session, the agent for the Bills shall deposit in the Private Bill Office a declaration, signed by him, stating that the Bills are the same in every respect as the Bills which were brought from the Commons in the last Session;

That the proceedings on such Bills shall in the present Session be pro forma only, in regard to every stage through which the same shall have passed in the last Session and that no new fees be charged to such stages.—(The Chairman of Committees.)

On Question, Motion agreed to, and it was ordered that a Message be sent to the Commons to acquaint them therewith.
