HL Deb 29 March 1990 vol 517 c1038
The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Department of the Environment (Lord Hesketh)

My Lords, I beg to move.

This order is part of the secondary legislation under the Local Government Finance Act 1988 needed to implement the new system of business rating which takes effect from 1st April. It fixes the rateable values of parts of the electricity industry and corrects a small error in the order that deals with British Gas.

When we debated eight orders covering the majority of the industries in December, certain decisions on aspects of the structure of the electricity industry remained to be taken and issues about the valuation of other parts of the industry were still under consideration. This order ties up the loose ends.

Moved, That the draft order laid before the House on 26th March be approved [14th Report from the Joint Committee.] — {Lord Hesketh.)

On Question, Motion agreed to.
