The Chairman of Committees (Lord Aberdare)

My Lords, I beg to move the Motion standing in my name on the Order Paper.

The noble Lord said: My Lords, when we had the television cameras in this House, but when they were not yet installed in the House of Commons, the broadcasters were not allowed to televise Commons Statements repeated in this House. That seemed a sensible arrangement. However, now that the television experiment is taking place in another place there seems no logical reason to continue the ban. Therefore, the committee recommends that it should be lifted. That is the point of this report.
