§ The Lord Chancellor (Lord Mackay of Clashfern)My Lords, I beg to move that this Bill be now read a third time.
Moved, That the Bill be now read a third time. —(The Lord Chancellor.)
§ Lord MishconMy Lords, I cannot allow the unanimity of this House to continue for one minute longer before making the usual comments in regard to consolidation Bills. Either the noble and learned Lord on the Woolsack rises and thanks the committee consisting of Members of both Houses (they go through such Bills with great care under the chairmanship of a distinguished Law Lord) and I immediately rise from these Benches and say how right he is, or I do so and the noble and learned Lord rises and says how right I am. The agreement between us ought to be encouraged and therefore I express gratitude to members of the committee for the wearisome but useful task they perform for the House.
§ The Lord ChancellorMy Lords, on this occasion it is my privilege to agree with the noble Lord, Lord Mishcon. I should add to his list the parliamentary draftsmen who carry out the detailed work which underlies the work of the committee.
§ On Question, Bill read a third time, and passed, and sent to the Commons.
