HL Deb 14 December 1989 vol 513 cc1401-2

British Railways Bill

City of London (Various Powers) Bill

Redbridge London Borough Council Bill

3.28 p.m.

The Chairman of Committees (Lord Aberdare)

My Lords, in moving the first Motion tabled in my name on the Order Paper I should like, with your Lordships' permission, to speak to all three of the Motions standing in my name.

Your Lordships will recall that early in the present Session the House agreed to a Motion in my name to allow certain Private Bills which were introduced in this Chamber during the last Session to continue in the present Session at whatever stage they had reached. I explained to the House that such a Motion, which is known as a "Reviver Motion", required the concurrence of another place and that such concurrence had not so far been forthcoming.

I am pleased to be able to inform the House that early this week those in another place concurred with your Lordships' Motion. At the same time they agreed to revive various Private Bills which were before them at the end of the last Session. However, this requires the reciprocal agreement of your Lordships and that is the purpose of the three Motions standing in my name today. If your Lordships agree to these three Motions, it will complete the necessary procedures to permit last Session's Private Bills to continue this Session. I beg to move.

Moved, That the House do concur with the orders made by the Commons contained in their Message of yesterday relating to Private Bills (Procedure).—(The Chairman of Committees.)

On Question, Motion agreed to, and it was ordered that a Message be sent to the Commons to acquaint them therewith.
